SAN FRANCISCO—Authorities arrested a man in connection with arson that transpired on back in November. Jingwen Yu, 51, was taken into custody on two counts of attempted arson and an outstanding theft warrant.

On November 10, officers were called to a church on the unit block of Waverly Place with reports of a fire.  According to police, at around 8 a.m. there was a fire on the side of the church’s building. Authorities obtained surveillance footage from the church which showed the suspect place plastic and paper materials along the building and light it on fire.

Police officers were called to the same location on November 17 for another act of arson. The fire was found near a vent outside the building. After receiving surveillance from November 15, Yu was seen setting fire to material again.

The news of Yu’s arrested was announced by the San Francisco Police Department on Tuesday, December 3. Neither fire resulted in significant damage to the building.
