SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run that killed a man in July 2023. The SFPD reported on Sunday, July 9, at approximately 2:41 a.m., officers responded to South Van Ness Ave. and 18th St. regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered a male pedestrian suffering from injuries caused by the collision. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene who pronounced the victim deceased, despite lifesaving actions. The name and age of the victim has not been disclosed to the public.

The driver and the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene and are still outstanding. The SFPD Traffic Collision Investigations Unit (TCIU) is leading the investigation and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect involved.
