SAN FRANCISCO—On March 19, the San Francisco Police Department announced that they seized 5 loaded firearms in the Ingleside District.

The SFPD reported that on March 14, officers from the Community Violence Reduction Team (CVRT) were patrolling the area of the 1800 block of Sunnydale Avenue when they spotted a large group of unknown individuals standing around a parked vehicle. As officers approached, the group started fleeing from the area.

When officers peered inside of the unoccupied vehicle, they found firearms in plain view. Officers towed the abandoned vehicle for further investigation. Upon search of the vehicle, the officers located a total of 5 loaded firearms, which were all seized for the investigation.

“This is a great example of the work our Community Violence Reduction Team does every day to keep San Francisco safe,” said Police Chief Bill Scott. “I want to thank our hardworking officers for their diligent work on this case.”

No arrests have been made in the case, and it remains an active investigation. Anyone with details is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
