SAN FRANCISCO—On Friday, May 9, it was announced by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office that Trayvon Williams, 21, was charged in connection with a fatal Mission District shooting. He was scheduled to be arraigned on May 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hall of Justice in Department 10.

He is charged with murder (PC 187(a)) with an allegation that he personally and intentionally used a firearm in the commission of the murder (PC 12022.53(d), first-degree and that the murder occurred in the commission of another crime (PC 190.2(a)(17(G), and an allegation that he was released on his own recognizance on another pending felony case (PC 12022.1(b).

He is also charged with first-degree residential burglary (PC 459) with an allegation that he personally and intentionally used a firearm (PC 12022.53(d)), and four other felony firearm charges including carrying a loaded firearm he was not the registered owner of (PC 25850a)) and possession of an assault weapon (PC 30605(a). Williams is currently in custody. The District Attorney’s Office moved to have him detained pending trial due to the public safety risk he poses

According to court documents, on May 2 at approximately 12:40 p.m., the San Francisco Police Department responded to a residence on the 3000 block of 26th Street in the Mission District regarding a victim with a gunshot wound. The SFPD located the victim, laying face down in a bedroom of the residence. Authorities located a surveillance video from within the residence that showed the defendant allegedly enter the residence through the front door and walk down the hallway.

Allegedly, Williams walks down the hall and pulls a long rifle-style assault weapon from his pants, enter the back bedroom and close the door behind him. Allegedly, he yelled at the victim, fired one fatal shot and then quickly exited the apartment.

The defendant was taken into custody by the SFPD on May 7, in Novato, California with assistance from the Novato Police Department and Marin County SWAT.
