HOLLYWOOD—“The Vampire Diaries” concluded its epic season four with a finale that will be talked about for days. Trust me if you haven’t watched the episode STAY CLEAR as spoilers are below. The episode opened with Kol (an original vampire) uniting all of those ghosts who have made their presence known in Mystic Falls thanks to Bonnie (Kat Graham) dropping the veil.

Lexie (Arielle Kebbel), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) speculated that the possibility that something wrong may have transpired with Bonnie.  Bonnie played coy about revealing to Caroline (Candice Accola) and the rest of her friends that she is dead.  Caroline as the control freak that she is failed to realize how bad things really are.

Elena (Nina Dobrev) was in high spirits reuniting with loved ones Alaric (Matt Davis) and her brother, Jeremy (Stephen R. McQueen).  The original hunters resurfaced asking for Silas’ body and the cure.  They meant business and it was downright scary as lives were placed in peril. Matt (Zach Roerig) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) continued to bond, as Katherine threatened Bonnie’s life, as well as her BFF Elena.  “Did you just threaten my best friend,” whispered a Bonnie to deceptive Katherine, just as Damon presented the cure to Elena who was skeptical to accept it, in order to protect the people that she cares about.

Stefan expressed his emotions to Lexie, just as Elena discovered that Damon has an injury infected with werewolf blood, which prompted Jeremy to mention Damon taking the cure to heal himself.  Could it be possible, the one person everyone fought to have the cure for is given to someone else?  Damon took Vaughn to the location of Silas’ body to a creek of running water. Rebekah and Matt finally shared a kiss that fans have been eagerly awaiting, as she switched places with Matt so that he could make it to graduation.

Elena begged Stefan to help protect Damon, as her friends prompted her to attend graduation.  Bonnie, Elena, Caroline and Matt all attended high school graduation; allowing emotions to get the best of them.  Kol continued to build his army in hopes of getting Bonnie to drop the veil completely. Bonnie set a trap keeping Kol secluded in the location where her body remains. Damon’s life appeared to slowly be slipping away as Vaughn launched several more bullets into him, as the witches began its onslaught, but not before Klaus (Joseph Morgan) came to her rescue.

Elena and Stefan shared a tender moment where she unleashed her true feelings to him and delivered the cure to him, hoping that he would take it.  Klaus and Caroline rekindled their romance, as they took snarky remarks at one another, and he informed her that he’s allowing Tyler to return to Mystic Falls.  It is indeed true, in even some of the most evil souls, love can conquer all, and Klaus has proved that.

Our favorite heroine took out some anger on Damon, about his stubbornness to not take the cure and suffer dying.  She admitted that she is in love with Damon; it’s obvious that she has finally made a choice between the Salvatore brothers, but how will it play out considering that Ian and Nina have broken up in real life. Stefan heard everything, which seems to give him even more of a reason to want to take the cure; his true love has chosen someone else.

Stephen expressed his remorse to his older brother about the Elena situation and decided to pack his things and head out of town, just as Bonnie begin to raise back the veil with Jeremy by her side.  Damon and Alaric shared a drink, to celebrate his newfound relationship, before he vanished.  The ‘walking dead’ slowly began to dissipate just as Kol planned to finish Elena, he vanished, but waiting in the wings was Katherine. An epic battle raged between Katherine and her doppelganger, which was as suspenseful as one could imagine.

Jeremy and Bonnie shared a passionate kiss as the veil finally closed which allowed Bonnie to bring Jeremy back to life!  This will make Elena’s day, but unfortunately Bonnie is not.  The couple shared a heartfelt goodbye as he realized that Bonnie is gone; such the compassionate soul.  She begged Jeremy to lie about what truly happened to her. I can’t believe thatMysticFallshas lost its one true witch!  This can’t be HAPPENING!!!!!  Here’s hoping something brings Bonnie back from the grave.

Rebekah shared her true feelings to Matt, as they both embarked on a road trip toItaly. Katherine seriously put a beating on Elena, as our favorite damsel in distress fought back, but saw her life slowing slipping away as Katherine was putting the final touches on our hero.  A flashback revealed that Stefan gave the cure to Elena, who shoved it down Katherine’s throat just moments before the vampress was about to end her life. Whoa!  Game-changer, how will Katherine respond to being human?

Stefan realized that Silas’ was never in stone because Bonnie is dead. Silas’ revealed that he created the immortality spell; he’s a doppelganger.  He revealed his shadow shelf to at first be Elena, but then revealed himself to be Stefan. Silas locked Stefan in a safe and tossed him into the waters.  “The Vampire Diaries” sure knows how to end on one hell of a cliff-hanger.  Is Stefan dead?  What is Silas’ truly planning?  What will happen with Katherine? Is Bonnie really dead?  It was indeed one of the best finales I have ever seen.  I’m literally dying for season 5 to get questions answered.  It will be a long four months before the series returns in the fall, until re-watch the finale in all of its epic glory.
