SAN FRANCISCO—On Thursday, July 16, Republican Presidential Candidate Jeb Bush visited the city of San Francisco to raise funds for his campaign.

Bush, 62, is the younger brother of former President George W. Bush. He is currently the Governor of Florida. He announced his candidacy to run in the 2016 Presidential Election on June 15.

While in San Francisco, he visited the headquarters of the start-up company called Thumbtack. Thumbtack is an online database that connects local service providers to consumers, also called an online marketplace. He arrived at this location in an Uber car to show his support of the business, which has recently made headlines with legal issues.

When he arrived at Thumbtack, Bush had an agenda and a list of topics he was prepared to talk about. One Thumbtack employee asked Bush about the anti-discrimination laws, or lack thereof, against LGBT in his own governed state of Florida.

Bush hedged the question a bit by taking both the side of LGBT and the side of religious fanatics. He said that no person should be discriminated against based solely on their sexual orientation, but it should be left up to the state as to what kind of anti-discrimination they want to pass. He also went on to say that just like LGBT want rights based on their life and their beliefs, religious people also have rights that need to be respected. Christians have a right to be opposed to gay marriage because that is what their religion promotes and that does not make them a bad person.

Another question that was asked of Bush is his thoughts on the issue of net neutrality. Net neutrality is the right to access anything on the internet without censorship. Bush claims that there is no problem to be fixed and net neutrality is “stupid.” He also stated that net neutrality stems creativity.
