SAN FRANCISCO—After having been attacked with a machete and robbed by at least four people, a 42-year-old man was able to walk himself to the hospital on Tuesday, February 14, in San Francisco’s Inner Mission District.

According to reports, San Francisco Police Department officers responded to a report of a robbery near the corner of Harrison and Cesar Chavez streets at around 9:30 p.m.

Upon further investigation, officers learned that a man armed with a machete had approached the victim. The suspect reportedly began to yell at the victim and swung the machete at him, causing the victim to fall to the ground, authorities indicated. Police indicated three other suspects assisted the man with the machete in attacking the victim who was kicked while on the ground.

Authorities have not divulged if the four suspects all know one another. One of the suspects reached inside the victim’s pants and took his cash during the struggle. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim remained conscious during incident and was treated at a local hospital for facial injuries he sustained, none life-threatening.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to contact the San Francisco Police Department.
