SAN FRANCISCO—The Westfield Mall in San Francisco was temporarily closed to the public on Saturday, April 29 after a suspicious package was found near the establishment.

According to reports, the package was reported at 9:44 a.m. at Mission and Jessie Streets near Fifth Street on the south corner of the Westfield San Francisco Centre shopping center.

Authorities closed the mall and asked the public to avoid the region as they completed their investigation. The San Francisco Police Department tweeted at 11:06 a.m., “The package has been deemed safe. The Westfield mall and the street closures should be opening shortly #sfpd #SF.”

Authorities did not disclose the contents of the suspicious package to the public.
