SAN FRANCISCO—Anthony York, entrepreneur and philanthropist, and the son of San Francisco 49ers owner, John York passed away on Friday, December 7 at age 35.  He was the brother to 49ers CEO Jed York.

Anthony was born on August 3, 1983 in Youngstown, Ohio and has three other siblings; Jenna, Mara, and Jed. York played both baseball and football in high school in Ohio. He worked with numerous non-profit organizations including the 49ers Foundation which worked to help incarcerated youth.

With a passion for entrepreneurship, Tony founded “Koda,” an app for helping college graduates find a job right after college.  

“Tony will forever be remembered as a bright, spirited entrepreneur with an unmatched passion to serve others who could brighten a room with his personality and sense of humor,” said the York family in a statement. 

An exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed to the public. The SF 49ers currently have a record of 3-10 for the 2018 NFL season.
