SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, a routine traffic stop turned into a wild goose chase. The police officers of the San Francisco Police Department Tenderloin Station attempted a routine traffic stop on a suspected violent felon.
It started near Market Street and Jones Street at 12:45 p.m. Since the driver of the vehicle did not want to obey the orders of the officers to stop his vehicle, a vehicle chase between the suspect and the police ensued. The suspect was heading towards Embarcadero. The chase ended near Pier 30. He managed to evade the officers until then. Although police reinforcements were called in, it was later called off.
The unnamed suspect then fled by foot, and he jumped into the San Francisco Bay. Therefore, the San Francisco Police Department’s Marine Unit was called to apprehend this individual. He was taken into police custody, and he had been booked into San Francisco County Jail.
The charges that will be filed against this suspect are pending; the identification of the suspect is not known yet at this time.
