LOS ANGELES—On August 28, at 7:00 a.m. Citizens reported the presence of Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at 1609 Wilshire Boulevard near the Carecen Labor Center in Westlake. Federal agents deployed tear gas in an immigration sweep at S. Union Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard.
At 11:32 a.m., eight undocumented immigrants were arrested, three of whom had criminal records. This is the third immigration sweep at this location.
On August 27, ICE Los Angeles HSI Integrated Operations Group arrested Juan Lopez-Vasquez, 40. The Mexican National was charged with DUIs, Hit-and-Run resulting in property damage, and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse. He has been detained and is in ICE Custody pending his removal from the U.S.
HSI Los Angeles reported 5000’s arrests. “Mr. 5,000 was an aggravated Felon,” HSI reported on X.
On August, August 26, HSI Los Angeles and ERO Los Angeles announced the arrest of Christopher Escoto-Barrientos, 24. The suspect, a citizen of Guatemala, was convicted of possession of obscene material depicting minors. He is a registered sex offender living in close to a school. He has been detained and is in ICE Custody pending removal.
HSL Los Angeles Integrated Operations Group arrested Jose Maldonado-Solano, 27. The Mexican National has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse.
On August 20, ICE HSI Los Angeles arrested Xavier Washington, 38, and Brian Israel, 26, both are U.S. Citizens and members of the 74 Hoover gang. He was arrested and charged with human trafficking of children.
On August 19, HSI Los Angeles, assisted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA Los Angeles, arrested Hakmatullah Hajizada, 31. Charges against the Afghanistan National include vandalism, driving without a license, and assault of an officer.
HSI Los Angeles Integrated Operations Group arrested Jose Armondo Estrada-Mondoza, 26, who is a Mexican National. He has been charged with spousal battery. He is in ICE custody pending removal.
On August 18, the Los Angeles HSI Integrated Operations Group arrested Gerardo Gonzales-Cortez, 29, of Mexico. He was found in possession of an unregistered firearm and has been charged with battery against a peace officer. He has been detained by ICE pending removal.
LA HSI, Integrated Operations group arrested Sandro Rodriguez-Lemus, 47. He is a Mexican National charged with vehicle theft and corporal injury of a spouse. He’s in ICE Custody pending removal.
On August 18, ICE Los Angeles HSI arrested Victor Manuel Mendoza-Rivas, 61, for forceful sex with a minor and transportation/sale of narcotics. He is a Mexican National in ICE custody pending removal from the U.S.

On August 13, the Public Information Officer, Ciaran McEvoy, of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California, announced the arrest and indictment of 11 individuals in connection with the 74 Hoover gang and the sex trafficking of minors and young women along South LA’s Figueroa Corridor.
