SAN FRANCISCO—Officials from the San Francisco Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection to the shooting death of Duby Ortiz on January 23. The SFPD reported that at 5:11 p.m. on January 23, officers responded to Leese Street and Richland Avenue about a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics from the San Francisco Fire Department responded and rendered aid to Ortiz, a 20 year-old San Francisco resident who later died of the injuries he sustained. The other victim, a 19 year-old female San Francisco resident, was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The name of that victim has not been disclosed to the public.

An investigation by the SFPD Homicide Unit led to the identification of the suspects. On Thursday, January 25, at approximately 2:30 p.m. the SFPD Special Investigation Division (SID) officers found and arrested Oscar Guadron-Diaz, 18, of San Francisco, and Jorge Howard, 19, also from San Francisco, on the unit block of Laura Street.

Guadron-Diaz was booked at the San Francisco County Jail on murder, attempted murder, mayhem and numerous other gun related charges. Howard was booked at the San Francisco County Jail on felony reckless driving and accessory charges. Due to pending identification matters, Guadron-Diaz’s and Howard’s photos are not being released by authorities.
