HOLLYWOOD—I cannot put into words what I am feeling right now, but perhaps the best word is ANGER. I know with certainty I noted last week, the producers of the reality competition series “Big Brother” was going to introduce a twist that would kill the momentum of their season or anger fans, and I was right, but I never expected it to be to this magnitude. Let me just say this, in the late hours on Friday, September 5, the live feeds returned after being down for more than 30 hours, to unbelievable uproar.
What fans discovered was beyond shocking, but just plain stupid. A contestant had been eliminated from the game because of a competition. There was no chance for a veto, no chance for safety via the BB Blockbuster, no chance for a vote, just you lose and you’re out. That contestant was none other than BB13 winner Rachel Reilly. To say I was stunned was an understatement. There are so many people saying the fanbase is only upset because its Rachel, and I disagree. Its that BB has become a game more about competition wins versus the social strategy which is what made it so fascinating to begin with.
When you have a player like Danielle Reyes that gets Marcellus Reynolds to NOT use the very first golden power of veto to save himself from the block was not just social capital, but strategery never seen before. It was a moment that till this day goes down as one of the greatest moments in BB history.
Rachel didn’t even get a chance to save herself after losing a timed competition (nonetheless), and what’s worse, she hadn’t even been nominated the entire season. That’s crazy especially considering she’s a veteran, she was a winner, and you have the BB Blockbuster that ensures three people are on the block every single week. Oh, we’ll talk more about that later and trust me, you’d be frustrated with that as well. I would have been upset if any of the players remaining in the game after 60 days of play, FINALLY making jury and with less than three weeks of the game remaining, getting the boot because I lost a competition that I didn’t even know was coming?!
Yeah, Allison Grodner, you got answers that people want. You’re the producer of the series, and I must say you are destroying this show. I have not seen people this angry, upset and just to the point where they are ready to throw in the towel, and I’m referring to the live feeders and BB alumni as well. The casual fans don’t get it because they see your watered down version of what is TRULY happening on the feeds. Like you guys trying to protect Rylie, or not showcasing players like Ava and Kelley for some of the nasty things they are saying.
Kelley is indeed weird, sorry she is, and Ava THANK GOD we got her captured on the live feeds admitting she was fighting for America’s Favorite Player this season. Yes, all that crap she was doing was her schtick. I haven’t loved her all season because she is not there to play the game and I hate players like that, yet BB continues to cast them every single season. America, Ava Pearl has been exposed, and all I can say is she better stay off the internet when she comes out that house because whew baby, she is going to have the breakdown of breakdowns.
I have a new tactic for actual casting, LET THE PEOPLE who you’ve whittled down actually go into the house and watch them play for 24-48 hours giving them the impression they have been cast. Upon watching dynamics, you can determine who is actually there to play and who is not, and then make cuts before revealing this was a test to see if you’re really playing the game or not.
The mastermind returned after being gone nearly 3/4 of the game with a twist competition similar to what we saw in “Big Brother Reindeer Games.” It was mostly competition-based; the players knew if they lost, they were out. That’s not what is expected of modern BB. So it was that maze that saw Danielle Reyes eliminated, and who would have guessed Rachel Reilly didn’t finish the comp and was booted. No vote, no nomination, just gone with the snap of a finger.
Ava won some sort of crapshoot that allowed her to start a safety chain, something BB did with ‘Celebrity Big Brother 3,’ however, they should have watched season 10 of “Big Brother Canada.” They show you how a safety chain is properly done, the three who weren’t saved had to compete, one was safe, the other two became nominees and a vote determined who would stay and who would go. That is how you properly do things. Ava for reasons that are becoming obvious (she’s jealous she’s not the star of the season, and you never were), didn’t like that Rachel grabbed her arm (not as dramatic as Ava claimed), to go first in the competition.
The truth was Ava wanted to save Lauren, the cardboard in the house, who is losing stock to win this game quicker than I can count to three. There are players saying they will vote for Kelley, KELLEY over Lauren. You know why? Both have terrible social games, but Lauren hasn’t had a conversation with Will since week three. Hell, I wouldn’t vote for you either. Perhaps this is the season that forces BB to revamp the game and go back to the basic’s ala a bit of BB2: social prowess.
Ava picked Vince first, who picked Lauren despite Morgan begging him to pick her. Yeah, Morgan, Vince is playing you. I see Vince having trouble in a jury vote against almost anyone besides Kelley if he gets there way. I can see a bitter jury and him not acknowledging his gameplay and moves. His relationship with Morgan that is something I don’t want to get into, but he may not have a girlfriend once the season ends.
Vince’s moved peeved off Morgan, who ultimately chose Rachel, who couldn’t complete the maze and was seen booted from the game. Making matters worse, this was an HOH competition as well, and half of the house didn’t even get to compete: Will, Ashley, Ava, Keanu and Kelley. Hmm, I have an issue with that as we have entered the jury phase. I can’t compete for safety and we have a challenge where the time is significantly less for each player? Not making sense at all. Producers, WTF are you all doing? What happened if Vince went first and lost, then who would have been the HOH?
There are people noting they are done with the season. The live feeds have been dreadful since they returned very late Friday night. Like nothing is happening, the players are complaining about the twist, and people are livid Rachel or whoever would have gotten the boot didn’t have a fair shake. There are rumors this could be ongoing until like the end of the game. We haven’t had a live HOH all season, and I think we won’t see one which is terrible to say the least.
Oh, and the BB Blockbuster it is expected for two more weeks! It is not slated to end until a week before the game is about to culminate. So, you’re telling me at the final seven and potentially the final six we’re going to have three people nominated? This is just stupid. The BB Blockbuster should not go beyond five to six weeks of the game. It just allows safety for the heck of safety and takes the social element away from the game. I like seeing two people on the block. Hell, the producers may as well keep the Battle of the Block, which fans HATED, and I mean absolutely HATED!
With that said, Lauren became HOH with the fastest time and nominated Will, Ashley and Morgan, Morgan won the POV in BB Comics, which the viewers weren’t even teased about, and now she plans to backdoor Keanu, who adamantly kept her safe last week. Keanu, hate to say it, but Rachel told you so. I don’t want to lose Will or Ashley, but if I have to be honest, Will can go. He was injured in the POV competition and I just don’t see him doing anything. He has tons of ammunition he can use against Ava, but he is not as active as he needs to be as a player.
I rather have Ashley, but I don’t know who she’d align with. I wouldn’t align with Ava, Kelley or Vince, so if anything, perhaps, Morgan and Lauren, with the intent of taking out Lauren to weaken Ava, Kelley and Vince before going after Vince and severing an ally for Morgan.
Instead of this twist they should have done a double eviction, hell, I would have taken a triple eviction. If the producers want to clean house, that is an easy way to do it. Hell, we’re about to go into the final seven and we haven’t even seen Zingbot yet. Is viewership likely to take a dip? I definitely think so, and its a result of the BB producers refusing to let the game play without interference. Like WTH are we seeing Rachel talk to Julie Chen nearly a week after she was evicted. I mean are you guys literally taking Rachel from the jury house to bring her to the stage to talk to Julie and then send her back to the jury? We literally have two weeks left in the game, so I can’t imagine Rachel coming back, unless we have a double double eviction, which was done in BB23.
Its a wrap on BB27 for me, the season took the nosedive of nosedives in a single day and I don’t see the recovery happening. The only people in this house I can see as a satisfying winners in order are: Morgan, Keanu, Ashley, Vince and Will. Ava has done nothing, but sleep and crab all day. The trash talking she’s doing with Rachel has made her so unlikeable I cannot deal with her anymore. Same with Kelley, news alert Ava and Kelley, Rachel is NOT THINKING ABOUT YOU TWO AT ALL! Lauren, girl can’t hold a conversation if her life depended on it.
How she plans to get through the jury Q/A I can’t see it and if she gets there I think it will be beyond dreadful; almost painful to watch, she has already lost two votes in Ashley and Will and if Vince is beside her, Morgan is not voting for Lauren, that’s three votes and Rachel, don’t see her crowing a player who refuses to own her game.
If BB27 has taught us anything, we need a back-to-basics season with some veterans in the house, so people who watch this show can see how it is actually supposed to be played.
