SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department announced on their X page on Wednesday, May 14 that they are investigating a fatal shooting that transpired in the Central District.

The incident was reported at approximately 1:11 p.m. when officers responded to the area of Columbus Avenue and Northpoint Street about a shooting. En route to the scene, authorities discovered a male subject shot at another male subject inside of their vehicle and fled the area.

Officers canvassed the region after arriving on the scene, they discovered that the suspect turned themselves into the SFPD Central Station and was arrested. His identity and charges are still pending.

Police officers searching the area located the victim’s vehicle parked at Leavenworth and Beach Streets. He was unresponsive in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided aid and started CPR, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The name and age of the victim has not been disclosed to the public.
