HOLLYWOOD—The TNT reboot “Dallas” sure knows how to end a season with surprises, and season three delivered everything a TV audience could ask for. For a few weeks, audiences have been teased that a Ewing would bite the dust, but did we ever expect it to be Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe). Yep, the prodigal one bid adieu in explosive fashion.

Let’s rewind a bit.  Last week’s penultimate episode, left Bobby (Patrick Duffy) for a loop when drug lord Luis (Antonio Jaramillo) mentioned he’d only be leaving Mexico with one prisoner, either his wife Ann (Brenda Strong) or her daughter Emma (Emma Bell).

One hour wouldn’t be enough to deliver a finale for the books, so the audience was treated to two episodes, “Endgame” and “Brave New World.” Bobby placed his fate in a business that had intentions to not live up to his word. Elena (Jordana Brewster) was none too pleased with Nicholas and his actions. Their conversation was cut short, but the cartel that arrived with heavy artillery at their disposal. It was the US Marshals, which relieved Elena who ran into the arms of her former lover Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe).

Bobby arranged for the border to be clear for the cartel to move their product, where he rescued a very frightened Ann, desperate to save her daughter. Back at Southfork, Harris, his mother, Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) and John Ross (Josh Henderson) eagerly awaited news on Emma’s whereabouts, but the revelation that Ann was released shook everyone to the core. Bum (Kevin Page) continued to do his private eye work to get the goods on Ryland. It was a full-house at the ranch, as Elena and Christopher delivered the news that Nicholas is going to lead the authorities to the cartel.

Pamela (Julie Gonzalo) was well aware that John Ross’ plan was to save Ewing Global, not to look out for the well being of Emma. The damsel in distress used her sex appeal to get an edge on her captors. Judith (Judith Light) was none too pleased with John Ross’ proposal, but she listened to his proposal about Harris being a CIA operative!

Wow, I’m stunned to discover she was not aware of that secret. Emma used the pencil that she stole to write a letter hoping to secure her rescue, but was caught red-handed by the guy who was willing to help her, and she was later placed in a life or death situation by Luis.

John Ross made his way to the Luis abode to rescue Emma and alerted Luis about his master plan. John Ross is quite effective as a manipulator spinning a delicious web of life and luxury, compared to the slums of Mexico. Nicholas continued to pull strings involving Elena’s emotions. Wow, John Ross does indeed have a conscious, as he allowed Emma to head home before him. Nicholas proved to be as duplicitous as ever, setting up those who trusted him the most.

Emma’s return home stunned everyone, especially when she revealed that John Ross was in Mexico. Luis was none to pleased with Nicholas unexpected arrival with the head of the drug cartel in tow. Nicholas was stunned to see John Ross and not Emma. It placed one careless Ewing in a tricky spot, but he was rescued by the Black Ops.

Luis and his boss proved that vengeance is on the horizon for Nicholas and the Ewing clan, who has no idea. Ann seemed a bit unnerved by meeting Bobby’s ex; does she have anything to be worried about? Bum used his skills to help Christopher track Elena and inform her that Drew was murdered. She captured the evidence to prove it and went on a violent warpath.

Nicholas was pleased to see Elena, but she put on the charm and showcased Drew’s necklace to prove his disloyalty and she fired a shot at his shoulder, and his leg, before he escaped. John Ross received a special gift from Judith which included the photos of his mistress. Seems like a deal has been brokered, and she asked her former enemy to keep an eye on her granddaughter. That wasn’t all; she wanted him to get the goods on her son and his involvement with the CIA. Why do I have a feeling that Harris was up to something so sinister the audience won’t see it coming.

He got a dose of reality when he walked in on Pamela having sex, and she revealed she was getting control of Ewing Global once again. Bobby and Ann reconciled, but not before she checked her hubby’s phone. Bobby and Sue Ellen dropped a bombshell on Pamela and John Ross that they have control of Ewing Global, which left the youngsters peeved to say the least. I’ve never seen John Ross so pissed at his mother. He later had an emotional breakdown, where he listened to a voice recording of dear old J.R. He revealed to Judith that Harris was planning to use a recording against her.  The suave entrepreneur paid Emma a visit to discuss her situation. She provided him with a file that left him reeling. Harris played the recording where it was revealed that his mother has the upper hand on him once again.

John Ross returned to the company to reveal that he has brought on Judith to work as the new Railroad Commissioner. He revealed to his uncle that he’s not just like his father, “He’s worse.” The final moments of the episode saw the head of the drug cartel being murdered while in prison, as was Luis. Nicholas proved to be a ruthless villain, and revealed Elena is pregnant, there is just one problem, her baby’s father could be either John Ross, Nicholas or someone else.

In classic “Dallas” fashion, the final moments of the episode saw the death of Christopher who was killed when a bomb was placed in the vehicle! Whoa, I really didn’t expect the series to go there with the death of such a pivotal character. But guess who was behind it? It was NICHOLAS! Checkmate! Bum revealed to John Ross that he has a sister, so J.R. is still pulling the strings from beyond the grave. Wow, season four will be an interesting one if it gets the go ahead, but with a finale of such proportions the series can’t end on that note can they?
