SAN FRANCISCO—During a trial by jury found Edwin Mauricio Fiallos, 24, guilty of drug trafficking in the Tenderloin and South of Market (SoMa) District on Tuesday, May 19. Fiallos was guilty of two counts of possession for sale of fentanyl (H&S 1135.1), one count of possession of sale of cocaine base (H&S 1135.5), one count of possession of sale of methamphetamine (H&S 11378) and one count of stay-away order issued in another narcotics case (Penal Code 166(a)(4)). These convictions concluded two cases Fiallos was facing.

On July 27, 2024, law enforcement, who worked in the SFPD Narcotics Unit, witnessed Fiallos engaging in a hand-to-hand narcotics sale on the 700 block of O’Farrell Street. He was apprehended, and the San Francisco Police Department recovered $406 cash, 16.8 grams of cocaine base, 30 grams of fentanyl and 5.4 grams of methamphetamine.

On January 20, while his first case was pending, Fiallos was seen on Sixth Street and Stevenson Street, violating a stay-away order in a prior narcotics sales case. Police officers searched him and found out he was in possession of 49.8 grams of fentanyl.

At his trial, his defense claimed he was selling drugs because he was a victim of human traffickers. The human traffickers threatened his family and had taken all the money he had earned. But in reality, Fiallos was discussing with family about how to access his funds from his variety of accounts to build a home.

Assistant District Attorney John Robles prosecuted the case. He was assisted by District Attorney Investigators Laura Rangel and Jacklyn Collins, paralegals Joshua Nickchen and Jennifer Java and the subpoena unit. A strong case was developed with help from the San Francisco Police Department’s Narcotics team. Fiallos is currently in police custody, pending his sentence hearing scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2026.
