SAN FRANCISCO—Police are investigating a home invasion robbery that transpired on Tuesday, February 16 in Visitacion Valley. Officers from the Ingleside Station responded to a call at the home of an elderly couple for “trespassers in a residence” around 3:05 p.m. near the 500 block of Campbell Avenue and Rutland Street.

The two suspects were holding the elderly couple at gunpoint. When the officers arrived at the home, they witnessed two suspects running out. One suspect fired a shot, but it’s unclear who the intended target was. One of the suspects was able to get in a car driven by a third suspect while the other suspect ran away on foot.

The police were able to track down and detain one of the suspects in a nearby yard. None of the officers fired their guns and no injuries were reported. Around 4:30 p.m. the SFPD alerted the community on Twitter to avoid the area of Tucker and Campbell Avenues between Delta and Rutland Streets while they searched for the suspects.

Police were using a chopper and K9 units from Daly City Police in the search along with California Highway Patrol Units. The shelter-in-place was lifted at 5:40 p.m. The incident is still under investigation and is being investigated by the SFPD Robbery Detail.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
