SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the SFDA’s Office revealed that Michael Javius, 22, was charged in connection with a fatal shooting in the Tenderloin District.
He is charged with murder (PC 187(a)) with an allegation that he personally and intentionally discharged a firearm in the commission of the murder (PC12022.53(d)). He is scheduled to be arraigned on January 2, 2025, at 9 a.m. in Department 10 at the Hall of Justice. The District Attorney’s Office moved to detain him pending trial due to the public safety risk he poses.
According to court records, on October 30, 2024, the defendant and another man can be seen inside of a corner store at the corner of Ellis Street and Jones Streets. The victim appears to come into the store and line up in front of Javius at the counter. He pays for his purchase before the suspect and then exits the store.
Once the victim exited, Javius allegedly put on a sweatshirt, exited the store and immediately walked up to the victim and shot him in the face at close range while victim stood on the sidewalk outside the market. After the shooting, the defendant allegedly left the area travelling northbound on Jones Street.
