SAN FRANCISCO—A San Francisco Muni Bus driver that veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into a parked van in the Marina District died of his injuries confirmed officials from Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.

Milton James, 66, died on September 24 from injuries suffered during the September 10 crash. James died at Zuckerberg SFGH confirmed Maricella Miranda, Public Relations Officer at ZSFG Capital Projects.

The September 10 crash occurred near Lombard Drive and Scott Streets intersection, where James, a veteran Muni bus driver for 38 years lost control for an undetermined reason resulting in a tragic accident.

A driver’s dash cam caught video showing the Muni bus going eastbound on Lombard Drive over the middle divider, hit a tree, take down a business awning before coming to a halt near a parked white van.

According to San Francisco Fire Department, at least four people were injured during the crash, none of the injuries were life-threatening. Three of the individuals injured were passengers on the bus.

The accident remains under investigation. The San Francisco News reached out to the San Francisco Police Department, but did not hear back before print.
