SAN FRANCISCO—An officer-involved shooting is under investigation the San Francisco Police Department that occurred in the Northern District on Monday, October 9. The SFPD reported at approximately 3:09 p.m. officers responded to the area of Geary Boulevard and Laguna Street on a report of a vehicle that crashed into a building.

After officers arrived on the scene, they found a vehicle came to rest in the lobby of the Chinese Consulate. An officer contacted the suspect and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers provided aid and summoned paramedics to the scene. Paramedics with the San Francisco Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the suspect to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

The name and age of the suspect has not been disclosed to the public. The SFPD and officials from the US State Department are working with the Chinese consulate. The investigation is ongoing, and the SFPD is not able to disclose any additional details at the current time.
