SAN FRANCISCO—One person was killed and 3 people were injured when a gunman opened fire on the streets of the Tenderloin District on Thursday, September 29, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Authorities received word of the shooting at approximately 1 a.m. and rushed to the scene located near the intersection of Ellis and Jones Streets.
All four victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital. Shunsie Ellis, 44, of San Francisco suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office.
The other three victims—a 49-year-old woman, 53-year old man and 59-year-old man—were transported to a local hospital with leg and foot injuries. Authorities reported the injuries were not life-threatening.
Police have not yet released information for a potential suspect or motive in the crime. Detectives have been canvassing the area for video surveillance footage and witnesses.
