SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco police officers are searching for a suspect who attacked a resident after breaking into his Sunset District residence. The victim, Bill Oxidean, was able to capture the incident using video surveillance.

The YouTube video, released by the San Francisco Police Department, shows the minute and a half duration of the altercation, and begins with a startled victim, Oxidean, knocking over a recycling bin after walking into his garage and being attacked.

Oxidean then appears to drop his keys, as the attacker places him in a headlock. The two men fall out of camera range, but then reappear with Oxidean fighting and wrestling with the man, taking hold of the situation and continuously attempting to pin him down using force.

The video shows that Oxidean was able to remove the gun from the attacker’s possession, and then runs outside into plain sight, but did not shoot the suspect. Video surveillance footage shows that this incident occurred between 8:44 a.m. and 8:46 a.m.

According to San Francisco Police Department officers, the gun was not loaded. Police have remarked that an attack such as this incident has been unusual for the neighborhood. According to Oxidean’s neighbors, there have been many reported break-ins and thefts in the Sunset area.

Police have been searching for the suspect since the incident occurred on September 28, and are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the attacker. The suspect is described as a African-American male, who was wearing a grey hoodie, grey pants, and a silver belt at the time of the attack.
