UNITED STATES−On Wednesday, February 5, at approximately 3:41 p.m. Chief Justice John Roberts announced that President Donald J. Trump has been acquitted on both articles of Impeachment issued against him.

The first Article of Impeachment, Abuse of Power, President Trump was found not guilty in a vote of 52-48. A total of 45 Democrats, 1 Republican and 2 Independents voted guilty.

On the second Article of Impeachment, Obstruction of Congress, President Trump was found not guilty by a vote of 53-47. Forty-five Democrats and 2 Independents voted against the President.

The only GOP Senator to vote ‘Yes’ to remove President Trump from office was Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT). A 2/3 thirds vote from the Senate was needed to remove an acting President from office. Romney did vote not guilty on the obstruction charge.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) presented President Trump with the “Golden Gavel” award, and thanked him for his service.

Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham gave the following statement:

“The Senate voted to reject the baseless articles of impeachment and only the President’s political opponents-all Democrats and one failed Republican presidential candidate-voted for the manufactured impeachment articles.”

“In what now has become a consistent tradition for Democrats, this was yet another witch-hunt that deprived the President of his due process rights and was based on a series of lies…Throughout this wholly corrupt process, President Trump successfully advanced the interest of the United States and remained focused on the issues that matter to Americans.  He spent his time achieving real victories for people of this country, and the Democrats-once again-have nothing to show for their fraudulent schemes.”

President Trump is expected to make a public statement from The White House at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6.
