SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, April 28, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed ordinances after their first reading, making the Upper Fillmore and Glen Park entertainment zones. It will allow people to drink alcohol on the go during special events like block parties and festivals.

In May 2026, the next step is to move the bill to the Mayor’s Office for the final signature in order to formally expand the list of entertainment zones. There are now more than 20 entertainment zones in San Francisco.

Valencia Street in the Mission Street has the Valencia Live! summer event. It will start on Thursday, May 14 and run thru October from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. Downtown’s Front Street will have its seasonal Fridays on Front Street. In July, the Fillmore District will host the annual Fillmore Jazz Festival.
