SAN FRANCISCO—During his prior tenure with the San Francisco Giants, Bruce Bochy managed the team from 2007 to 2019, winning three World Series Championships in 2010, 2012 and 2014. After he retired as manager for the team, he went on to manage the Texas Rangers from 2023 to September 2025, giving them a World Series Championship win in his first year with the team.
He worked previously in the role of a Special Advisor in 2020 to 2022 after retiring as San Francisco Giants’ manager. On November 10, former San Francisco Giants Manager Bochy was rehired as the new Giants Special Advisor to Baseball Operations. He will be providing input on baseball and business concerns. Due to his extensive knowledge and leadership skills, he will become a valuable asset for San Francisco Giants’ future, according to President of Baseball Operation Buster Posey, who was a former catcher of the San Francisco Giants and a key player of the World Series Championships.
Not only is he going to be a special advisor, another former manager and professional baseball player of the Houston Astros, Dusty Baker, is going to be his co-advisor. As well as new San Francisco Giants manager, Tony Welts, who was hired just last month with no prior professional baseball experience.
