SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department arrested a man on November 8 for allegedly throwing an explosive at officers back in October. 

Nilman-Vincent Vanewyk, 30, of San Francisco was apprehended and booked at the San Francisco County Jail. He is facing multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon upon a peace officer.

On October 22 at approximately 10:51 p.m. officers detained a male who was attempting to light fireworks in the Mission District. There were groups of people nearby that started throwing bottles at officers on the 3200 block of 22nd Street. An object was thrown that exploded less than a foot from cops that sent one officer to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Authorities reviewed surveillance video of the incident to help them identify the suspect. The SFPD is still investigating the case.
