SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection to a report of sexual battery against a minor that transpired in October 2016. According to a press release from the SFPD, the incident occurred at a middle school in the Bayview District. School officials alerted the SFPD and warned families to inform them that an investigation was underway and encouraging students and families to report any concerns.

Police were able to identify a suspect, Donovan Harper, 35, of Novato. The SF District Attorney’s Office issues a warrant for Harper. On June 8, the Novato Police Department served a warrant taking Harper into custody without incident.  He was charged with one felony count of forcible lewd act upon a child under 14 years old and one felony count of lewd act upon a child under the age of 14. He is currently being held at the San Francisco County Jail.

Harper is a former employee of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) and has worked on multiple school campuses. The SFPD is asking anyone who may have been a victim or had any suspicious contact with the suspect to contact the San Francisco Police Special Victim’s Unit (415) 558-5500.
