SAN FRANCISCO—On Monday, August 31, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) announced via social media they made an arrest in hot prowl burglary, indecent exposure, and battery with intent to sexually assault a juvenile. The police department released a statement with details via their website.

According to the SFPD, officers from the Bayview Station responded to San Bruno Avenue and Silver Avenue for a report of hot prowl burglary, at 8:27 a.m., on Thursday, August 27. The victim, a female juvenile told officers that she found the suspect in her living room exposing himself and conducting sexual gratification. The suspect was later identified as 33-year-old San Francisco resident, Leyacitonu Masaniai.

The victim claimed the suspect tried to physically control her in her bedroom. She called her father and the police after she escaped from her room. The victim’s father later came back home and detained the suspect, until authorities arrived on the scene.

The SFPD arrested Masaniai without incident. The suspect was sent to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He was booked at San Francisco County Jail. The SFPD is still investigating the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD at 415-575-4444.
