SAN FRANCISCO—Authorities re-arrested a suspect in connection to a 2011 nightclub homicide that occurred on the 500 block of Howard Street at the Temple Night Club that resulted in the death of 30 year-old Joe Hernandez, who was a fourth year University of California-San Francisco medical student.

According to a press release from the San Francisco Police Department, Tracy Luong, 25, of San Jose was arrested for a second time on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in connection to the murder. She turned herself into authorities and was booked on the following charges: involuntary manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury.

Hernandez was beaten to death while inside the club; a bystander did attempt to intervene and was struck multiple times in the head and face by a female suspect who used her high-heels as a weapon.

She was previously arrested on May 12, 2011 by Officers from the SFPD Criminal Investigation Unit for aggravated assault (a felony) for attacking the bystander who attempted to assist the victim inside the nightclub.

Police also arrested Dung Minh Nguyen, 36, of Richmond, California on January 9, 2014 in connection to the homicide. The suspect was presented with an arrest warrant and booked on the following charges: voluntary manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon, battery causing serious bodily injury and battery.

Hernandez volunteered as a disaster relief worker to aide in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and learned how to speak Spanish to assist with refugees in Guadalajara, Mexico. As a teenager he worked as an unpaid hospital volunteer.
