SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead over the weekend.

Authorities from the SFPD were alerted of the shooting when the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system, which locates gunfire using acoustic and optical sensors—went off, according to Officer Giselle Talkoff, a SFPD spokeswoman.

SFPD officers responded to the scene in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood, on the 1700 block of Oakland Avenue, at approximately 12:19 a.m. They discovered the victim, Alejandro Valle, of San Francisco suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso.

Police immediately began CPR and responding paramedics continued to aid the victim who was transported to the hospital. He was pronounced dead upon arrival.

There is little information available, but police believe the suspects are two men and woman, who all reportedly fled the scene in a sedan, according to the SFPD. No arrests have been made. Detailed descriptions of the suspects have not yet been disclosed to the public.

Anyone with any information on the shooting is asked to contact the SFPD’s Anonymous Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or to text a tip to Tip 411 with SFPD at the beginning of the message.
