SAN FRANCISCO—BuildZoom, a San Francisco start-up firm that connects homeowners with contractors, has been victimized by a series of burglaries by a female suspect.

In response, the firm is taking the search for the suspect into their own hands, using an unconventional method in attempting to bring the alleged criminal to justice.

Armed with a photo of the suspect captured on surveillance cameras, BuildZoom has created a profile on the popular dating app Tinder, creating a fake profile with the name “Lauren,” and a description that reads: “I rob offices in SF. $5,000 reward for identifying me. Email lauren@buildzoom.com.”

In some of the surveillance tapes, the female suspect appears to have a male accomplice. They are believed to be breaking into coded lock boxes with a physical key, stealing items such as Apple computers from a number of offices.

Anyone with information on the burglar’s identity can contact the San Francisco Police Department at (415) 575-4444, or text TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message.
