SAN FRANCISCO—Authorities said a 32-year-old woman from Pleasanton was fatally shot at Pier 14 in San Francisco at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1.

According to witnesses, the woman was with a family member on the pier when she was shot in the torso.

The woman was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where she died.

Officers took a person matching the description of the suspect into custody shortly after the shooting at the corner of Embarcadero and Townsend Street.

“This person of interest is currently being detained at the moment pending further investigation,” said Officer Carlos Manfredi in a press release.

No information about the suspect has been released, and he has not been charged. No other person of interest is being sought.

Pier 14 is located on the south side of the Ferry Building and attracts a large number of both tourists and residents alike.
