NEW YORK—On Wednesday, September 9, FOX decided to revive the comedy show “You Bet Your Life” for fall 2021 with Jay Leno as the host. Viewers will be able to watch the 30 minute reboot on Fox owned stations.

FOX Television Stations Manager of Corporate Communications, Victoria Gurrieri sent Jay Leno’s announcement to the San Francisco News which read:

“I am thrilled to announce that I’m going to be hosting the classic American game show ‘You Bet Your Life’. The idea of the show is to have fun, have a good time, and laugh.”

Leno added, “I’m thrilled to be hosting the latest version of ‘You Bet Your Life.’ One of my favorite things to do is talk to regular people and draw humor out of them. This is a comedy show wrapped in a game show that allows me to do just that.”

CEO of FOX Television Station, Jack Abernethy felt that Leno’s familiar face will keep the audience laughing and Leno’s talent will help reinvent the renowned franchise, as noted stated in the email.

“You Bet Your Life” will have strangers who will have to work as pairs to compete against another pair of strangers for the opportunity to win prize money by correctly answering questions about pre-determined categories. Each episode will present two pairs of contestants. The original host was Grucho Marx and the show aired for 11 years from 1947 until 1961.

In the past few decades, Leno has hosted late night talk shows, performed stand-up comedy, written best-selling children books, completed voice-over work, and car building.

He has been hosting CNBC’s “Jay Leno’s Garage,” an outgrowth of jaylenosgarage.com, a YouTube channel which Leno produces and which has an international following on the web and which garnered several Emmy Awards and nominations for Outstanding Special Class–Short-Format Nonfiction Programs.
