HOLLYWOOD—Yes, I guess we can say Awards Season is officially upon us because on Monday, December 8, the nominees for the 2026 Golden Globes were revealed by actor Marlon Wayans and actress Skye P. Marshall.

So who made the cut and who was snubbed? There are indeed a few nominees that had me scratching my head, but I remember the Golden Globes is all about star power, not necessarily if the movie or performances are strong. Also NEWS FLASH, we don’t care about podcasts. Podcasts and movies FYI are 2 different things, so why in the hell is that category even a thing?

With that said “One Battle After Another” lead the film side of things with a total of 9 nominations including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, while “The White Lotus” led the charge on the TV side with 6 nominations. I do not get “The White Lotus” hype because its most recent season was one of the worst in my opinion. I love Julia Roberts, but “After the Hunt” was an afterthought, you barely heard anything about that movie, so her landing a nom was a surprise.

“The Smashing Machine” was a flop at the box-office, so I am surprised to see Dwayne Johnson earn a nom for Lead Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. I’m going to say something controversial: the performances for 2025 are weak, they are not that strong as has been seen in previous years, so this is anyone’s game when it comes to the acting races in Lead and Supporting categories. No love for Jennifer Lopez for her Supporting Role in “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and “Wicked: For Good” was just not as strong as its predecessor despite a strong performance at the box-office.

Oscar-winner and actress Helen Mirren will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, while actress Sarah Jessica Parker will be bestowed with the Carol Burnett accolade. A partial list of this year’s nominees can be viewed below:
