SAN FRANCISCO―Due to policy activity at the Montgomery Street BART Station, BART service through downtown San Francisco experienced a major delay on Sunday, February 5.

The Montgomery Street BART station was shut down while police searched for an armed robbery suspect in San Francisco, officials said.

The delay began at around 4:40 p.m. after a person was allegedly seen jumping onto the tracks at the station. While police responded to the report, trains stopped in both directions.

According to authorities, a robbery suspect entered the Montgomery Station around 4 p.m., leading to the arrest of one suspect.

In attempt to compensate for BARTs service stoppage, Muni temporarily changed its boarding rules that allowed passengers with BART tickets to ride the city system without any extra charge.

As of 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, 511.org send out a message on Twitter that “regular service” on BART had resumed.
