SAN MATEO—On Friday, August 15, 2025, at about 1 in the morning, on the 200 block of Chadbourne Avenue, a burglary occurred at a retirement community called The Magnolia of Millbrae.
San Mateo County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Millbrae beat at that moment responded quickly and efficiently to reports of a suspicious person on the grounds of The Magnolia of Millbrae. He was caught by the staff of the retirement center, but he slipped away from them on foot. With help from surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts, the Sheriff Deputies then spread out in search of this person. They were able to apprehend the perpetrator.
One of the residents reported their cellular phone to be missing along with a mail delivery. The burglar, 19-year-old San Mateo resident Ronald Alfaro Diaz, was apprehended after finding a missing cellular phone and a package on him, booking him at Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City by Sheriff’s Deputies and charging him with Residential Burglary and Mail Theft.
