SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco officials are asking the city transit to donate proceeds from an anti-Israel bus advertisement to San Francisco’s Human Rights Commission. This donation would come only after the organization took similar action for an advertisement targeting Muslims.

According to recent reports, the city’s Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) donated proceeds from bus ads that painted Muslims in a negative light.

The donations are intended to fund a citywide study about the effects the ad has on Muslims.

A letter from City Supervisor Scott Wiener, along with six others, was delivered to the MTA requesting that an additional donation of $5,030 be made from the anti-Israel ads.

It was agency spokesperson Paul Rose who said that the agency accepted the provocative ads from both parties in order to avoid a First Amendment rights lawsuit.
