SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco has had tradition of holding one of the largest LGBT Pride Festivals in the nation. This year marks the 45th Annual Pride Celebration at the historical Civic Center Plaza, where Harvey Milk encouraged pride attendees to “Come out with joy, and speak out for justice!” over 35 years ago at the 1978 festivities.

For nearly two decades, the celebration has become a leading contributor in the movement of LGBT culture and liberation. Since 1997, the San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Pride Celebration Committee has donated over $2 million of its annual proceeds to local non-profit organizations dedicated to HIV/AIDS research, homelessness, animal shelters, and cancer research funding.

Festivities will being at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. The Pride Parade will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, and will be led by the Dykes on Bikes from Beale and Market, and will end downtown at 8th and Market Streets. This year’s theme is “Equality without Exception.” Over 200 contingents and 300 exhibitors, are anticipated to be in attendance. The festival will be featuring more than 20 stages and venues for performers, speakers, and ralliers.

Main Stage speakers and performances include: Shiny Toy Guns as Sunday’s headliners, Kat Robichaud, Kate Kendell, The Glamz, Krystle Warren, Sexitude, Alicia Garza, Cheer SF, Liam Mayclem, ESG, BAAITS, Matthew Vines, DJ Mystic Bill, Siya, Morning Gloryville, Big Freedia, Steve Grand, Lady Bunny, Mike Munich, Carnie Asada, Moonlighting SF, The Ladies of AsiaSF Go BANG!, Switch SF, and Monster Show.
