SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that transpired on Friday, March 27. A vehicle collision occurred in the area of Grant Avenue and Jackson Street at approximately 7:43 a.m. involving a driver and 2 pedestrians on the sidewalk.

Officers arrived on the scene and found two victims suffering from injuries. The victims were taken by paramedics to a local hospital, where one of the victims died from injuries sustained. The name of the victim has not yet been disclosed to the public. The other victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation determined that the driver, a 76-year-old male was attempting to park his vehicle when the vehicle collided with two pedestrians on the sidewalk and then into a building.

The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The SFPD do not believe impairment due to alcohol and or drugs as a factor at this time. The Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is handling the investigation.
