PORTLAND—Four people were shot in a Hazelwood neighborhood in Northeast Portland on August 27. East Precinct Officers responded to emergency calls reporting gunfire at 9:02 p.m. They found four victims with gunshot wounds on the 10500 block of Northeast Halsey Street near Gateway Discovery Park. The victims were taken to local hospitals and their conditions are not known at this time.
Portland Police Bureau’s Detective Division is investigating the scene, and currently the areas Northeast 104th Avenue to Northeast 106th Avenue from Northeast Wasco Street to Northeast Halsey Street are closed off.
The Portland Police Bureau states if anyone has information about the shootings and has not been contacted by investigators, they are asked to call the non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
On August 22, there was another shooting in the Hazelwood neighborhood that led to the death of 19-year-old Sammie Lee West III. West later died due to the gunshot wound. West’s next of kin provided a photograph of him. As of August 26, the homicide investigation was declared ongoing and no other details has been released to the public.
