HAYWARD—On Sunday, August 10, 2025 at around 7 p.m., 911 dispatched Hayward Police to a household on the 26000 block of Gading Road near Huntwood Way after the matriarch of the household informed the 911 dispatcher that she and her husband as well as the shooter were shot by their adult son.

A 38-year-old male shot his elderly parents whom he lived with. Then the son turned the trigger onto himself as well.

Hayward Police found the parents with gunshot wounds, transferring both to a local hospital in the area. The 70-year-old mother and 71-year-old father are both now in critical condition.

As for the son, Hayward Police found him to be unresponsive with a gunshot wound. After transferring him to a nearby hospital, he was officially pronounced dead upon arrival.

Since this shooting seemed to be an isolated incident, there is no real threat at all to public safety, according to a Hayward Police spokesperson.
