SAN FRANCISCO—A man was reported to have been fatally stabbed in the Castro District on Monday, December 12. The man was found near the SF elementary school, Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy.

San Francisco Police Department spokesperson, Officer Giselle Talkoff indicated that officers reported to the scene near 18th and Diamond Streets after receiving a call at 2:54 p.m. A man, in his 60s was laying on the sidewalk with a knife puncturing his chest. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

SFPD officers visited the Eureka Valley Barber Shop—which was the site of police activity involving a couple of fires in October, to view footage from the security cameras. Talkoff could not confirm whether or not anyone was being investigated for the stabbing.

Officers have not determined whether the stabbing was self-inflicted or the cause of conflict with another person. At 6:20 p.m., Captain Perea of the SFPD, stated that the death has been classified as a suicide.
