SAN FRANCISCO—Pet owners were informed of new restrictions at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area earlier this month.

The 2019 Superintendent’s Compendium was released to the public on September 16, which is a total of 37 pages in length, three of which discussed new pet policies.

According to the non-profit organization SFDOG, pet owners were allowed to walk their dogs in any area of the GGNRA from 2017 to the present.

The Compendium states that any on-leash pets are restricted from any south entrance of the park.

These south entrances are in the San Mateo County and Milagra Ridge areas. Pet owners located in those areas must drive to a northern entrance. These changes are expected to go into effect in October.
